Creating an Outdoor Sanctuary

On the coast everyone loves being outside. In the Grand Strand, the fall is a beautiful time of year and it is where everyone wants to be.  Homeowners continue to gravitate to outdoor lifestyles that allow them to relax and unwind under the stars, and entertain friends and family.

For this reason, porches and patios are a quintessential aspect of southern homes. New homebuilders in the area have taken note by including creative outdoor living space options with the houses they build.  An enclosed back porch or patio is oftentimes a must for homebuyers. Many builders are adding features to homes that appeal to those who love spending as much time outdoors as possible.

So what can transform an outdoor area into an outdoor living space? One popular option is a partial or full outdoor kitchen. Homeowners with pools are remodeling their decks into cabanas and bars. Built-in counter top grills are the perfect centerpieces for an outdoor kitchen. A stocked outdoor fridge can make it easier to enjoy an entire day or evening outdoors instead of running inside to accommodate guests and family. An outdoor kitchen invites people outdoors and can create the perfect setting for fall barbecues and cookouts.

Along with football season, fall is the season of backyard bonfires. Homes in neighborhoods are now able to throw together a woodpile, add some gasoline and call it a night.

Fire pits ensure that outdoor living spaces are relaxing and cozy.  A complete outdoor fireplace is also an option for those who want to enjoy a cozy night outside as the temperature drops.

Of course, when having all your friends and family over to grill out or enjoy the sunset by the fire, you will want to have beautiful landscaping and design. Having areas ready for planting during all seasons is important to many homeowners. Goldenrod, sage, or asters are great options that can put the finishing touches on your outdoor living space.

Many are dreading the end to sunshine and summertime, but the upside is that with the many outdoor amenities available, your time outdoors does not have to be nearing an end. As memories of this past summer’s beach trips fill your mind, close your eyes and picture your family sitting comfortably around the fireplace on your patio, enjoying everything fall has to offer right in your backyard.
