Myrtle Beach in Top 10 American Beaches

Myrtle Beach, the largest resort along South Carolina's 60-mile coast, is the East Coast's ultimate vacation hub.

The town comes alive with summertime action on its beaches and in amusement and water parks, restaurants and live entertainment venues. The beach is actually an extensive stretch of silky white sand with opportunities for fishing, swimming, sunbathing, sailing, and surfing. The Grand Strand is an attractive destination for retirees as well with activities for both the young and the young-at-heart.

Some restaurants are world famous; others are unknown treasures, waiting to be discovered. From a romantic dinner to pigging out on pizza and barbecue, every kind of dining establishment can be found. Some combine food and entertainment making for a special evening.

With more than 100 golf courses, golfing is a year-round attraction. Many of the courses were designed by world-renowned pros like Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, and Greg Norman. Regardless of your golfing skills, there’s a course for everyone.

The Arts The arts and events calendar is packed with concerts, festivals and live shows which provide professional entertainment year-round. There are also art museums and Brookgreen Gardens where 500 sculptures by famous artists are on permanent exhibit. The Grand Strand has the Carolina Opry and other special shows at the Calvin Gilmore Theater. It also boasts having its own symphony orchestra, the Long Bay Symphony, which is based in Myrtle Beach.

And Baseball The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, adds thrilling baseball to fans of all ages. Part of the Carolina League of Minor League Baseball, the Pelicans are in their 18th year with several league championships already on record.
